TRAIN PARTY

Updated: Nov 7, 2023

My son has been so obsessed with trains that we actually had a train theme for two years in a row. I've always tried to be as budget friendly as possible so here are some pics from my parties so far.

Dessert Table - We were lucky enough to hold my sons birthday party at a miniture train park and I set up the dessert table as below. I purchased the sign off Etsy and found an antique suitcase second hand to add to the look I was after.

Cake 1 - This cake was quite easy to do. I baked two cakes, cut one in half and the majority of the cake is just piping for decoration. I used the licorice strips for the tunnel and rail track and would have preferred to do a brown tree trunk but didn't organise it in time.

Cake 2 - This cake was actually purchased as a DIY kit from an online website and I love the design however the taste of the cake was nothing like it is being homemade so I would not use the cake mix again but loved the pre-made fondant which you just needed to mould yourself and was easy to do. I'm yet to successfully make fondant myself. I tried once and it was a massive fail so haven't attempted again.

Cake 3 - This classic Womens Weekly Train Cake. Please refer to my other post about this cake HERE.
